The founder's story
My journey into Igbo language writing and advocacy began with a moment I will never forget.
My husband, Cletus Okorie, lying on his sickbed, spoke words that pierced my heart:
"ỤMỤAKA M ANAGHI ASỤ IGBO."
"My children do not speak Igbo."
In his eyes, I saw pain.
But as I reflected on his concern, I realized something deeper.
My husband was not the only parent worried about children who could not speak their mother tongue.
Across Igbo families at home and throughout the diaspora, parents and grandparents were facing the same challenge.
That personal concern became a mission.
My background in languages, particularly my studies in French, helped me recognize that successful language learning requires more than memorizing isolated vocabulary.
Learners need to understand how a language works through its sounds, grammar, verbs, sentence patterns, and conversation.
That realization inspired the creation of the Sụwanụ (Speak) Igbo Book Series and eventually led to the establishment of Speak Igbo Academy. For the past three years, I have worked tirelessly, faithfully, and diligently to bring us to where we are today. I am playing my part, and your support is needed to accomplish this mission.
Today, my children understand and speak Igbo. Yours can too. All they need is encouragement and support.
Let us not allow the fire that was handed down to us to burn out in our hands.
Sụwanụ Igbo! Igbo Amaka!!
What began as one father's concern for his children has grown into a mission:
To preserve, promote, and pass on the Igbo language to future generations.

What's at stake
Look around us.
In the diaspora and even in many Igbo communities today, weddings, family gatherings, community meetings, and cultural celebrations are increasingly conducted in languages other than Igbo.
Why? Because we want the younger generation to understand.
But there is a painful question we must ask:
If we must stop speaking Igbo to include our children today, what language will they pass on to their own children tomorrow?
And what happens when the generation that still speaks Igbo fluently is no longer here?
LANGUAGE DOES NOT DISAPPEAR IN ONE DAY.
It disappears gradually — one home, one family, and one generation at a time — when it is no longer spoken, taught, or passed on.
BUT THIS STORY DOES NOT HAVE TO END THAT WAY.

Does this sound like you?
I grew up hearing Igbo but never learned to speak it confidently.
I understand some Igbo but struggle to respond.
I am raising children in the diaspora and want them to connect with their language.
I married into an Igbo family and want to participate more fully in family conversations.
I want to learn Igbo but simply do not know where to begin.
THE PROBLEM IS OFTEN NOT A LACK OF DESIRE.
The problem is the lack of a simple, structured, beginner-friendly pathway that shows you where to start and what to learn next.
That is why we created the Speak Igbo in 5 Days Coaching Challenge.
The transformation
Greet family members confidently in Igbo.
Introduce yourself naturally.
Recognize and pronounce Igbo sounds more clearly.
Understand how pronouns and verbs work together.
Count and ask simple questions.
Begin forming your own Igbo sentences.
YOU WILL NOT BECOME FLUENT IN FIVE DAYS.
But you can build something equally important:
A strong foundation, greater confidence, and a clear pathway to continue learning.

Through language, we inherit the stories, prayers, humor, proverbs, values, and wisdom of those who came before us.
When a language disappears, we lose more than words.
WE LOSE PART OF THE BRIDGE CONNECTING ONE GENERATION TO THE NEXT.
That is why learning Igbo is not simply about learning another language.
IT IS ABOUT PRESERVING A LEGACY.

EVERY VOICE MATTERS.
AND YOUR JOURNEY CAN BEGIN TODAY.
FIVE DAYS CAN BE YOUR BEGINNING.
You have waited long enough.
